Dear Lori,
Lots of things since our last newsletter - the Word Master Series
was fantastic, and we are now supporting Microsoft Word. We are also
now reselling and supporting LegalBar (BEC Legal Systems), a great
add-on program for Word users that will make day-to-day use of Word
easier and more comfortable.
Please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone else in
your firm. They can also subscribe to receive future newsletters.

Do the users in your firm understand how to use paragraph
numbering, styles and templates in Microsoft Word, or are they
struggling day after day to create complex documents?
Microsoft Word is a very powerful program, yet few Word users
are truly comfortable with the features that are needed on a
day-to-day basis.
Do you have firm templates for your users that will allow
them to create documents quickly and efficiently - with
consistent styles? Consider taking a look at LegalBar, a great
product from BEC Legal Systems in Cincinnati, Ohio.
BEC's LegalBar is a tool designed from the ground up,
specifically for law firms, and comes with styles and standard
numbering schemes that allows your users to quickly and easily
create quality documents. LegalBar also comes with clause
libraries (for document assembly) and templates, and gives
users the ability to share these great tools without hours of
programming.
LegalBar can be highly customized - allowing your firm to
take advantage of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook to
build client management and document production shortcuts. An
ideal tool to consider at any time, LegalBar has proven to be
especially valuable as an integral part of your WordPerfect to
Word or Office XP/Office 11 Upgrade transition plan. Law firms
committed to quality documents immediately recognize the
invaluable part that LegalBar plays in promoting ease of use
and firm standards for formatting and document production that
can be easily shared and administered.

| Palm Link Enhancements in Version 55 | .
 |
|
If you regularly synchronize Amicus to your Palm, consider
upgrading to Amicus Attorney - Version 5.5. This new version
now gives you the ability to synchronize categories between
Amicus & Palm (although the Palm is still limited to 15
categories, and Amicus can have many more, so you will have to
pick and choose which categories to create on the Palm).
You also now have the ability to decide which five (5)
Communication labels will be displayed on the Palm by default,
and you can map fields from Amicus to be synchronized with
those five fields.
Click on the link below to download the detailed
documentation entitled 'How to Perform a Successful Hotsync
between Amicus and your Palm'.

| Amicus Office Toolbar / Right Mouse Button |
 |
|
Want a faster way to open the Files, Contacts, and other
modules in Amicus? How about an easy way to start a new
incoming phone call, or start the timer?
Have you tried using the Amicus Office Toolbar? All of the
icons on the Toolbar are the same as those on the Amicus
desktop, with the addition of the Office, Timer and Phone
icons. Click on the 'Office Toolbar' drop-down list box and
select 'Always on Top' to allow the Toolbar to always remain
visible, no matter what application you are using. You can
also change the size or shape of the Toolbar; the size makes
it smaller or larger, and the shape allows you to decide
whether to display the Toolbar horizontally or vertically on
your Windows desktop. In order to move the Toolbar to another
location on your desktop, point to any edge or corner of the
toolbar, and click and drag the toolbar to any location on
your desktop.
Another quick way to access modules and features within
Amicus is to use the right mouse button. Click the right mouse
button on any blank area in any Amicus module to
display the main Amicus Attorney quick menu.
Lesson 7, Section D in the Step by Step Guide to Amicus
Attorney training manual provides a table with all of the
quick menus that are displayed using the right mouse button
throughout Amicus Attorney.

| Amicus Templates - Files or Contacts in a
Table |
 |
|
Word Templates - There are four Word templates that
come with Amicus Attorney that have problems that cause one or
both of the following problems: a) Each record appears in a
separate table (with a header in each table), b) The final
document lists half the number of selected records.
There are two steps that may need to be performed in these
templates to resolve these issues. You can either manually
modify the templates, or you can download the modified
templates from our website.
WordPerfect Templates - There were no major problems
with the original WordPerfect templates - however, they
have been modified as well to correct minor features that were
not set up properly, as follows: a) the header row in the
table has been designated as a header row, and it will now
repeat at the top of each page in the table, b) extraneous
codes have been removed, and the formatting has been cleaned
up, c) the line that was at the end of each report that showed
'This report was prepared on DATE by TEAM MEMBER' was
moved from the end of the report to the sub-heading.
